After our stay at Casa Andina San Blas, we had good hopes for this hotel. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Once again, we were given a bad room, this time on the ground floor, behind the reception right next to the luggage storage room. It had a view over the inside wall (the corridor), a hole in the floor under the carpet and was so moist that two hours after we took a shower, the bathroom mirror was still fogged. We complained and were told that there were no other rooms available. I mentioned it was our honeymoon and that we would like a nicer room with a view and on a higher floor. We were told that would be arranged and that when we came back from our our tour all our bags would have been moved. To our great surprise, when we came back, we had been moved to a room on the first floor, with no view and MUCH smaller than the one we had before... We went down to complain and after waiting over one hour and hearing complaints from at least 3 other guests about the same problem, we were given a slightly larger room, still without a view. We saw 4 other rooms (for instance the ones that had been given to the other complaining guests) and they were all better than the one they had given us. I complained to the agency that had booked the hotel and the manager called me the next day apologizing and offering to give us a better room. We refused as it was the second of a three-night stay and we did not feel like having to pack everything to change again. He tried to make it up to us, which was nice, but I can't help feeling we were treated as not-important guests, even though it was our honeymoon. Location of the hotel is great, right on one of the corners of Plaza d'Armas, but service was not good. Front-desk staff kept smiling and saying they understood our problem with the rooms, while at the same time saying they could not do anything about it (even if the same person had promised to give us a better room). Casa Andina San Blas is a far superior hotel than this one.
If you get a good deal it could be a good option for its location, otherwise, make sure you are guaranteed a good room (bear in mind that rooms facing the street are noisy). Has free internet access, both wireless and a shared computer that can be used at any time by the guests. You will have to request a username/password valid for 30 minutes.
