Can you find a face monument on the stone wall?
by RoseAmano
To the north direction ,about 90 km a way from Cusco, I reached Ollantaytambo.
Altitude is over 4,000m.
This district located in the center of holy vally. Somehow I felt nostalsia here. I climbed up top of old fort which is built with big huge stone.
The scene from the top was very beautiful.
Fruits
by kare_ab
I know, I know, how is it going?
Peel it, fry it or leave it..
Of course, that's true and yes you should be careful what you eat, BUT ehm, how is the other one going?
No risk no fun?
In comparison to Switzerland, all kind of fruits are just a lot fresher!!! Pears, apples, grapes, strawberry, ... mhm... yummy! Try them, eat them and enjoy them! :-D
(I know, there are other fruits, which you can peel and that are yummy too :-D)
Sacred Valley
by chrissyalex
The Rio Urubamba cuts through this beautiful valley which has much to offer such as Inca ruins,Quechua villages, markets and gorgeous mountain views. It is definately worth at least a day trip.
You can visit many of the towns in the valley by local bus but if your time is limited, you can take a day tour. I took a full day tour for$25 which included lunch. We visited Pisca,Urubamba,Ollantaytambo,Chinchero and a couple other Quencha towns . The distances between the towns is not that far and we had a fairly decent amount of time in each place. We were not stuck on a bus all day and felt terribly rushed. We saw stunning views the entire ride through this valley and if there was a place which was exceptionally scenic, the driver would stop for a few minutes so we could snap some photos.
If you visit these towns independanly or take the tour, be sure to bring your tourist ticket with you. It is needed to visit places such as Chinchero and the fortress at Ollantaytambo.
Everything Alpaca
by annie_c about Throughout the Area
Any market in the Sacred Valley. The one thing that you have to buy in Peru is anything Alpaca. The rugs, scarves and sweaters were of very good quality and the prices are very cheap. But remember to bargain, you could probably get up to 30-50% off the first asking price.
Great food
by sfphototraveller about La Cicciolina
I read a travel blog a wanted to try for myself.
I ordered Prawns and the steak. Both were excellent I ordered the steak Medium Rare.
I went back on Tuesday night less crowded. I had the Alpaca steak , cooked medium it was still somewhat rare inside the center but soft and tender like chicken cooked perfectly. I also had the Proscuitto ham sandwich to go both were great and will go back again for something different on the menu. If your dressed up or make reservations they seat you in a different room with white table cloth and silverware. if your a walk in customer dress like a backpacker a hiker that just finished the Cusco city tour they will seat you to small tables near the bar counter with bar stools.
It was crowded on a sunday around 8pm. I sat at the bar counter.
The female employees wear black and the cooks wear red caps.
It appears to be managed very well even when busy.
They also have pasta that I will try the next visit.
