inca trail closed ?????

by triassicpark1

HI esteemed members,

I am trying to book the 2 day trek in May. Looks like its closed. I have contacted about 4 to 5 local operators. They say the train is available but the trek is not available. Is it fully booked out??? I cant see the reason as not even one date is available entire May. Can someone suggest alternate trails or some other local tourist treking agencies?

Hi! You should hurry, there is availability only days 1, 3 and 4. If you want to reserve anyway, you should reserve NOW! It's because is high season. But you alternatively can do one of the following treks:

-Choquequirao Trek (4d/3n)
-Valle Lares to Machu Picchu Trek (4d/3n)
-Salkantay to Machu Picchu Trek (5d/4n)

Hope you find this info useful. If you need more information about the Inca Trail, don't hesitate to contact me. Here is my e-mail: brocca@turismoinkaiko.net - Bye!

The Inca Trail is only closed in February. I have just come back from completing the Inca Trail and our guide said the trail was pretty much booked up from May through to August. You usually need to book your place about 3 months in advance to ensure you are able to get a spot. It may be worthwhile in putting your name down on a cancellation list.

Travel Tips for Cusco

cuy or guinea pig...it's a treat

by easterntrekker

We had to try some and it did taste like a cross between chicken and pork. It's a delicacy and is usually the most expensive thing on the menu.

Even though it tasted rgood especially the crispy skin ...I just would never get used to eating something that can look back at me. Its head was still on !!

There were a number of things during this tour that exceeded my expectations: Quality of the food was excellent, Diversity of the trail was amazing, The porters and the cook did a great job ,they were always ready for us. The hot water on 3rd day morning was such a nice experience.

I will recomended All Trek Cusco Tour operator The two guides were very nice and friendly with us. I enjoyed the trip very much.

There aren't many notable sights in Urubamba ,but there is a pretty church and some beautiful views of glaciered mountains from this town. We took a stroll and stopped here for lunch at El Maizal. This restaurant is on the main road and offers a buffet which includes many Peruvian dishes. There is indoor and also outdoor seating, which is in a pretty garden surrounded by trees and flowers.

Walking is a Great Way to Enjoy Cusco

by AKtravelers

Cusco is a great city to explore by foot. Most of the important sites (except Sacsayhuaman) are close to the Plaza de Armas and within easy reach. But not only is walking practical and cheap, but it also allows you to experience the entirety of the city, as you walk past old Inca walls, under Spanish colonial arcades and by the city's inhabitants enjoying their day. You get to smell the aroma of a resturant's kitchen and feel the cool mountain breeze. What a shame it must be to only see Cusco from the window of a tour bus

Most of the restaurants serve a Pisco Source shot for free with the meal. Pisco y a really hot liquor made of grape skin, similar to spanish aguardiente or orujo.
Pisco Source is a coctail that makes easier to drink pisco. It's made of lemon, sugar, egg (without yolk) and pisco. You can't miss that!!
