A certain spanish flavour
by SirRichard
As you wander around this lovely city you can feel the influence of the conquerors in its architecture, streets, ambiance... You could find a very similar (maybe smaller) main square in some spanish city, specially in Castilla or Extremadura, the regions where the first invaders came from.

Las Salinas de Maras
by Maillekeul
Take a bus to Urubamba, stop in Chichero (see my page about this city), and then take a cab (negociate the price !) to go and see the wonderful salinas of Maras (go and see my Maras page, if you don't feel like going there !).
Taxi - Around CUSCO
by XKuger
Always carry exact change. Taxi's to most areas around cusco is only a couple of Soles or more.
However whenever you break a 10 Sole note. The taxi drivers all miracelously don't have change.
So make sure that you have exact change before you jump into a cab. Also pre-negotiate your cab fare.
Most times I found they were fair in what they demanded but a couple of times I had some cab drivers who were trying to take me for a ride.
Pancakes or other sweets
by kare_ab about Granja Heidi
For all of you, who love sweet nice desserts it's a MUST to go to Heidi's. It's not the cheapest, but one of the most delicious restaurant.
(You can eat as well main dishes as desserts, but I've never tried a main dish, as it's very expensive - for Peru) Swiss or German bakery - mhm.....
