La Casona de Yucay: Beautiful Old Hacienda

'La Casona de Yucay' is a small hotel located just a few miles outside Urubamba, a perfect place for at night or two in 'the Sacred Valley'. I really enjoyed my stay there! The main building is an old hacienda from 1810, givning it an authentic atmosphere... The garden is peaceful and quiet, and with stunning view of the nearby mountain peaks... OK, the room is nothing special, but clean and rather large... No ‘luxury’ such as TV, air conditioning or mini bar, but this is well compensated by the beautiful surroundings of the hotel...

Only a few staff members spoke English, but all very friendly and helpful. I would stay at 'La Casona de Yucay' anytime.

Sonesta Posada del Inca: In the heart of the Sacred Valley

This used to be a monestary a long time ago and was later converted into an inn.

In the backyard both a llama and an alpaca are kept and the inn is surrounded all around by a wonderful view of the high Andes mountains. Right next to the restaurant is a small "square" where Indians come (very early, around 6AM) and sell local crafts and textiles.
