When visiting Peru going to...

When visiting Peru going to Cuzco and its surroundings is a must! Specially for those who like to see archeological sites, you can't miss Cuzco. From the Coricancha (Temple of the Sun) to the ruins of Machu Picchu, there is so much to see! I took this picture at the ruins of Sacsayhuaman where we came across this guy who had a live condor. Cool! That's my sister and her husband on the right.
"Desamparados" Train Station
by ThiagoRamos
I don´t think the train station can be considered a tourist attraction in Lima, but it did deserve a picture.
The train station is located at the city center, one or two blocks from Plaza Mayor, and you will probably pass in front of it on your way to the Convent of San Francisco.
Venezuelan pub
by AR76 about Guajira
Small pub, usually local crowd. Make sure you have some small change with you, otherwise they will have to change money at the neighbour's. And don't all order Baileys at the same time, 'cause then they will have to borrow some at the neighbour's as well. Normal (it's quite dark in there anyway)
Cheap local food
by adelinemmc about Tropicana Restaurant and Cafeteria
Good local restaurant catering mainly to local workers.
Daily menu 3-course menu with 3/4 choice for starters and mains. No choice for dessert. Very very cheap, it was 6 soles in 2005.
We had the soup and ceviche for starter. Both were good. Can't remember the mains. Postre was a glass of that weird gloopy jelly thing with a plum inside. Not too sugary and very good. We hesitated a bit at first since it was the first time we saw it but it was worth trying!
Quite busy and frantic at lunchtime but service is fast, polite and efficient. Great local experience, just a stone throw away from touristy Miraflores and Parque Kennedy or Parque Central. The starter of ceviche de corvina was absolutely delicious. Nice balance of chili and lime juice. The fish was filets of little white fish (corvina) and was very tender.
El Cordano
by SirRichard
This is one of the classical bars in old Lima, where people come for a drink before dinner. Though you can eat some tiny plates here, don't come here for a meal, just for a beer or so.
It is decorated in the original 1920's style and (I think) a bit overpriced but worth the visit, as it is nearly and historical landmark.
Hard to find, as there is no sign on the door.
