Paintings on the walls
I saw here and there wonderful paintings on the walls in Lima. This one was near Plaza de Armas, in the pedestrian alley between the 2 yellw buildings with balconies. It includes many latin american icons as Pablo Neruda...

Hello,
I read somewhere that Miraflores is safer than Lima Centro; more expensive than Lima Centro; but to stay in Lima Centro would be more central . . . . I don't mind paying a bit more for a hotel, but is it easy to get around if we were to stay in Miraflores? Or would the hotels in Lima Centro be sufficient and safe enough to stay in?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hi, if I were you I would stay in Miraflores, it's safer than staying in downtown and you will have more thing to do around Miraflores.
If you want to visit Lima centro (down town) you can always take a tour from Miraflores to there, this tour should take one day.
I agree, you're relatively "safer" if you stay in the Miraflores area. Also, San Isidro or Barranco areas could be options. Miraflores tends to be "touristy," but nonetheless, it is a nice area to be in. If you opt to stay in Miraflores, you can always get a taxi to go to the downtown area OR as already stated, take an organized group tour in a bus.
Goodluck & enjoy beautiful Peru!
Miraflores is not sooooo far from downtown, if you take a cab, you will stay in downtown in 20-30 minutes approx.

Hi,
I would also recommend Miraflores. There's a nice Hostal there called Buena Vista. I stayed there 3 years ago. It was very clean, the staff / owners were very friendly, nice breakfast was included and they have Internet free of charge.
Depends on your budget...I always stay in the Hotel Del Pilar in Miraflores, one block from Parque Kennedy. Have a look at my pages if you re interested.
Hi. U can stay in Miraflores, in downtown Historic Centre, in Barranco, in Lince, they are good places. Well, as u said, Miraflores is more touristic and mostly everybody will recommend u to stay in there.
Daya speak spanish? U can take taxis everywhere, or if u want u can take buses to get some joy of feel like a citizen of lima (un limeƱo). That if u speak a intermediate spanish.
Ah. If u stay in MIraflores, that district is very commercial, u can walk on Larco av, visit shopping center Larcomar, Kennedy Park. U can take a tour to sightseeing Lima www.mirabusperu.com it is a good choice.
In Centre Historic, u can walk by Plaza de Armas, Jiron de la Union (it is a pedestrian way where u can see several stores and malls), u can go to Calle Capon too. There are other interesting avenues in downtown, but it would be better if u go with more people. For example, Wilson avenue.
Barranco is a bohemian district. If u want to enjoy nightlife, u can go there, its Boulevard, or Miraflores, either a zone of Lince.

At the end of Larco in Miraflores, you'll find a beautiful mall built into the cliffs overlooking the ocean. There are a few restaurants, a movie theater and plenty of shops here to occupy your time for a couple hours.
Ok, I notice that the bus rides takes 9 hours and that flights ranged from anywhere between 135 dollars and up.
We will most likely be flying, is it cheaper to buy the ticket at the airport in Lima or better to buy before showing up to the country?
Local cevicheria a bit outside the touristy hub of Barranco. You have to walk along a busy road before finding the restaurant.
It's a big airy room with thatched roof. The menu has seafood galore! Lots of fish, cooked in many different ways and of course, several ceviche.
I tried the ceviche mixto and it was delicious. A perfect last meal before flying home.
Huge portions.
Nice service, a bit slow but not irritatingly so.
Featured in Lonely Planet 2006 ed. The ceviche, of course!
This museum is home to ancient gold relics of Peur dating to before Incan Time. It is also
home to mummies and many military items from the early days of Peru and South America. If downtown is underseige by the military when you visit like it was when I was there then go the the Gold Meseum.
