Sleeping with locals

... in the same house I mean!
There are no real hotels here. The community arranges home stays for people who want to sleep in the island. Just talk to anyone in any shop and they will lead you to the one in charge and will show you the place.
I didn't sleep there as I was on a daytrip. But I had the experience at Isla del Sol nad is really interesting. I had forgotten nights with no electri light, with no traffic noises, just the stars and you!!!
Besides, you share their dinner and sleep the same way they do. Oh, U better bring a good sleeping bag, night seem to be cold here!

Overnight in a local house

Once of the most interesting activity that you can do in Taquile, is to spend some time with a local family, overnighting in a simple room attached to their house.

The room isn’t so confortable, it will be very very cold (so bring some warm clothes and a sleeping bag), the bathroom is outside, (but with such a wind you will never have the wish to get out!) it won’t be so clean, but it is simply an amazing experience!

Wake up and take a breakfast with the family is something really cool.

Then, in Taquile there is not an ufficial accomodation i.e. Guesthouse or whatever, so it is the only one possibility that you have.

If you wish to spend one night here, when you do arrive from the harbor, you will meet some local people, ask them what to do. They will introduce you to some members and will arrange the accomodation.

Our was very cheap, it costs us only 3USD included 1 dinner and the breakfast.

Staying at local adobe house with locals

If you want to experience the local daily life, you can stay with locals on the island. The typical houses are like this, adobe, but painted with striking colors on doors etc.

Any tour agency/operator can arrange such stay.

You would have enough time experiencing local daily life, instead of being just a transient 'visitor'.
