Royal Inn Hotel en Casino: A casino downstairs

by tompt

During our trip in Suriname we stayed in Paramaribo four times. Every time in this same hotel. We had different rooms each room had a different pro or con. One was to close to the street, noise very early in the morning. Another one had only a small window somewhere high up.
But in every room we had a warm shower, this not everywhere in Suriname (some only have cold water.) And there was air-conditioning and television in every room too.

The hotel is situated in a shopping street, not far from the main market. But a medium distance to the bars and restaurants at the Waterfront.

Downstairs there is a casino, maybe you can win some travel money. And there is rumour all night long. But the good site of this is that there is a guard at the door all day.

Prices:
Room prices vary from 32 to 68 Euro per room.

Cynthia Rent-a-House: A rip-off!

by theo1006

We thought we would not bother friends and relatives and were willing to pay good money for a base to stay during our two months in Suriname. So we found this website Cyntia Rent-a-House, and booked a two-star house for EUR 150 a week.
The house looks nice enough from the outside, but for that kind of money we would have expected much better furniture and household stuff.
True, some things were replaced or repaired at our request, but the general picture was still: poor.

Next time we will book a hotel for a few days and use these to go shopping around for a house. We already have seen better for that price.

To mention a few:
Dirty pillows, unsuitable bedcloths, no cupboard space so that we had to lay our cloths on the second bed.
Bathroom without a place to put your toiletries.
High toilet (as used for the elderly) with loose ring.
Absolute minimum of forks, plates etc., broken oven.
TV with unserviceable indoor antenna.
Fan in second bedroom much too noisy to sleep by (lucky we did not need to use that room).
Musty and smelly washing room.

Hotel Casino Ambassador: Good placed hotel.

by SpaniardPolo

A Small 2 stars hotel very well placed in one of the most important avenues of the capital Paramaribo.
With no many rooms available the athmosphere is familiar and the rooms are standard by its category.
Meals are made in the Hotel Restaurant though not much variety is offered by the staff.

The main important issue about this hotel is its ubication. Close to the main shopping area in town, you are at five minutes walk from there.
There is no swimming pool in. But it host downstairs a nice and internatinal standard Casino with a wide range of slots machines and all kind of table games as Black Jack, Roulette, Poker, Baccarat, etc....
A mini Las Vegas in Paramaribo.

Krasnopolsky: Best in Town!

by simbac2001

Krasnopolsky one of the best in town, you can experience a cool and friendly atmosphere so comfortable with a casino that is irresistible, whilst chilling out on a Parbo Bier (1 litre) say wow!
There's a wide range of liquir to choose from imported from Holland.

Krasnopolsky takes up a block, you find many apartment stores so conveniently located under this one roof. I can remember buying some delicious candies and goodies imported from Holland in one of its department store.

Christiaankondre: Sleeping close to the Atlantic Ocean

by duke0123

Where the Marowijneriver flows into the Atlantic Ocean you will find Galibi. Here are also two Caribbean villages of indians: Christiaankondre and Langamankondre.
In Christiaankondre it's possible to stay in a simple tourist residence. Here are some sleeping rooms and there is also a dormitory. If you prefer sleeping outside, that's possible too: there are some hammocks.

When you stay here you can visit the indian villages, relax in a hammock or walk a little around on the beach and watch how the local people are leaving in their boats or are having fun on the beach.
From mid-february till august giant turtles arrive on Galibi to lay their eggs.

by juanomar

When in Paramaribo the best place to stay is Torarica. It might not be a world class hotel but is the best place to stay.

They have very good sport facilities in the premises: Gym, tenis courts, pool, jacuzzis, sauna, massage parlor.

My favorite accomodation is at my aunt's. There are some good (business) hotels in the city, but they all serve continental breakfast >8((
If you want to see the real life, you should stay with the locals.
