Going out to La Barra from Peninsula Area

by Alless

Hello virtualtourists friends
Firsts of all, next weekend ( from 27 to 29, march ) would be my first time in Punta del Este and i will be going with a friend and staying in Hotel Aqua. I think we can't miss La Barra night and i m wonder how to get there without car. I ve read taxis are about $20,00 each way but I want to know about places for exemple La Marocha and La Dolce Vita, if is easy the entrance and how much would have to pay for entrance, whats the best day to go saturday or sunday ,etc.I could not get any information by internet about it.And then when i have to came back to hotel ( i think will not stay too late of night )if would be safe wait a cab, because peple say that doesnt have much cabs...
I just would like to dance some hours, check it out and come back.
Thank you

Hello,
You can rent a car in Thrifty or Europcar.

You can tour Punta del Este with audio guides in your iPhone at
http://audioguides.travel/Uruguay/Maldonado-Punta-del-Este/en_us/

You can dance in Moby Dick till sunrise, opposite to the port.

You can enjoy La Barra in the night, and don't miss Jose Ignacio!

Avenida Gorlero is the main street in Punta del Este. Here you will find several restaurants and shops. At night this is the plaice of choice for a lot of people in punta so the street is pretty crowded.
