Hotel La Bluette

Lovely bed and breakfast in La Barra

La Bluette is a lovely bed and breakfast that is owned and run by Hugo and his wife Alicia. They are Argentinian and spent most of their lives in Buenos Aires before moving to Punta and deciding to open a bed and breakfast there. Hugo is rather animated and is so delightful. He was very friendly during our stay and spoke Spanish or English with us depending on if we were too tired to think in Spanish at the end of a long day of walking and sightseeing.

The room there was lovely, if a bit chilly (we were there in winter). We had a room in the main part of the house, with a patio that offered a view of the ocean.

Hugo and Alicia were so accommodating. We were, in fact, their only guests at the time but I can imagine they would be just as friendly if their other 11 rooms had been filled. Breakfast each morning was delicious. And big! Hugo would tell us stories about his travels to Europe and about Buenos Aires. They also allowed us to use many things from their kitchen (plates, cutlery, wine glasses, etc) since we would frequently buy groceries at the store for dinner since most of the restaurants were seasonal and still closed for the winter.

All in all, I loved the small town of La Barra, and Punta. It was a wonderful experience and I wish I could go back sometime soon!

Unique Quality: The hotel is very homey. It is not for those that wish to have an independent kind of stay where you come and go without anyone ever noticing. We had many conversations with Hugo and Alicia and felt the family atmosphere of the hotel. It is just across the road from the beach, but you can see the beach and ocean from the front patio and from some of the rooms.

The hospitality was excellent! And the hotel is rather charming, designed by Hugo to resemble a villa in Provence (he loves France!).
