Two star with internet reservations

Two stars, in this case means no lobby. The rooms although a bit worn were clean. Even those with non-frosted windows had no view. There was plenty of very hot water. There is central heating and cable TV. The location was convenient but perhaps a couple blocks too far away from 18 de Julio for the comfort of nervous travellers. The desk personnel were a bit cold at least initially, even though I do speak Spanish.

There are a lot of hotels in this and lower categories. Some are certain to be cheaper and better located.

Unique Quality: This hotel was the cheapest on the internet with internet reservations. They offered a room with bath at $15 a night with a special 5th night free. It was good enough that I stayed there a sixth night when I returned to Montevideo from my travels upcountry. They charge an extra 10% for credit cards or Uruguayan cash. I recall also seeing it on the internet for $18 dollars a night so perhaps they are trying to raise their prices.

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average

Hotel Arapey Photo: Its OK, but not as nice as this hallway suggests.
