 I've been traveling to Montevideo on business for the last 4 years. I've stayed at five other hotels in the downtown area and a couple in Pocitos. I found the Klee two years ago and will probably never stay anywhere else. Great location in the heart of the city - one block from 18 de Julio, which is the principle street that runs through downtown - across the street from a beautiful old building that houses a tango parlor, restaurants, and a Uruguayan arts and crafts collection - and a half block from the largest tourist information center in Montevideo. The rooms are recently remodeled, clean, and comfortable. The staff is super attentive, as are most hotel staff in Uruguay. The rooms cost around US$40, and in my opinion, given the quality of my experiences at the Klee, the best deal in town. If you're looking for a more tranquil neighborhood setting and are willing to spend more money, the Trouville Apart Hotel in Pocitos is a gem.
