Friendly and helpful staff, easy access to subway and other transportation, good complimentary breakfast, very ample and clean room. Has all the basics, no frills (i.e. don't expect Pool, sauna, etc) As everything in Caracas, very 70ish, somewhat tired looking. Location on the Sabana Grande Boulevard is its biggest drawback, littered, full of homeless and drunkards, everything very run-down, kind of picturesque in a way but scary at night. Now wonder they close the access to S. Grande.
Value and a very generously sized room. Breakfast included. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Av Francisco Solano

Mixed feelings. Is a 5 stars hotel and the rooms are great: big, sunny, with a great view, very clean. But the food is pretty lousy. And the people who work at the front desk are really clue less. -Please, I want to speak with Mrs. Mandel at room 304. -Sorry, madam, she checked out and left. -But I just talked to her sister. She is here and is waiting for me. -Sorry, but in the screen of our computers it appears that she cancelled her registration in the hotel three days ago. -But can you call room 304? -Im telling you she isnt there. -But can you call or do you want to call your security guards because Im making it to that room no matter what... ... -Hello, room 304? -Yes... -You are not Mrs. Mandel arent you? -OF COURSE I AM AND IM WAITING FOR A FRIEND WHO IS COMING TO PICK ME UP!!! I phoned the next day, talked with the same guy, and once again he said that she had left. I have no pacience for this. I've been there several times: to visit some relatives from Puerto Rico who came to a weading that was going to be heald there; to make an interview for Discovery Channel France; to a lecture of the mexican economy minister, to a book presentation; to a gourmet cheese fancy festival; to see a friend and her family that came from the States and their company had booked them in this hotel. And I always go out with this lousy sensation of: "These people trully believe that they are the best hotel in Caracas... and they are not".
It has all kind of facilities, pools, etc... but it is way too expensive, too too 5 starish and oh how wonderfull we are. No doubt. The Tamanaco (Tamanaco was the name of one of our more fierce chief indians during conquering times) is the 5 ***** stars hotel in Caracas with more history and histories. Every important person who came to Caracas in the XX century -and could pay for it- arrived at El Tamanaco. It has the best view of the city and all of the facilities (including tennis)... It has plenty of cultural, social, economic, etc activities in many of the conferece rooms it has. But the room area is private and you cant hear any noise.
The food is very good. Breakfast are great. They have a famous pizza place (made in wooden oven) next to the pool. That is the only thing I dont like about this hotel, because when the pizza finally makes is to the table, it is always cold. The Tamanaco is located in a hill, right bellow there are two big and fancy shoping malls: Paseo Las Mercedes and El Tolón. They have shops, galleries, theaters, cinemas, and a big variety of restaurant. The whole area of Las Mercedes is a restaurant, pub, deli, chic cafeterias place, discotheques, etc. Big and energetic night life in this area. I suggest you always take a taxi when you leave and come back to the hotel. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Av. Venezuela, and Caracas are often overlooked as holiday destinations, due to tumultuous governments, consistent civic unrest and even a questionable human rights record. All the more reason I had to go. On a dare a friend of mine and I, had a few cocktails one evening, packed our bags and boarded a flight from IAD to Simón Bolívar International Airport.. We made reservations for two one bedroom suites at the Tamanaco Intercontinental. Hotel. The hotel is a fairly old hotel, but is still a center piece of life in Caracas for the power elite. The hotel is built with two wings of a center lobby. Both wings taper off to lower levels so that the end rooms have balconies. There is a large circular driveway which end at the lobby entrance. There is also a nice pool setup, with great sun access in the front of the hotel. Candidly the hotel is well maintained, but I think it needs a facelift. Much of the furnishings and decor reeks of being right out of the 70s. Again, it is very clean, and well maintained, it just seems old. And not the good old like Louis XV, the bad old like the Brady Bunch. Our accommodations included two "Cabana" Suites. They were around $230 each per night. I was a bit troubled by the 12:00 Noon check-out and 4:00 p.m. check in. I think the management will work with you, space allowed.
The hotel has a nice selection of restaurants. La Cabana had some great Pizzas and steaks. And we enjoyed many inexpensive cocktails at the Bull Pen Bar, which showed a variety (read mostly soccer) of sports shows. Just a short walk away is the Las Mercedes area. There are many great restaurants and bars here, as well as fashionable shops for the ladies. We ventured out to a few local watering holes. One was El Mani es Asi. It was great. Lots of fun people who know how to party. I am not a tennis player, but the hotel does boast at least three outside lit courts. There is also a a decent workout center for those that do not understand the world holiday. The service and management of this hotel was equal to the highest anywhere. The attention to detail is obvious everywhere. All in all, I would stay here again. It is really one of the center pieces of the city, and you can never tell who you might run into. There are a lot of things to do in Venezuela. We flew out to the Margarita Island, below the ABCs. It is growing fast, but is still a relatively good bargain for a beautiful place. We actually journeyed to Venezuela to see Angel Falls. The tallest waterfall in the world. As it turns out we never made it there, as apparently they want you to PLAN this stuff in advance. : ) Instead we rented a Mercedes G350 SUV and tooled around the city, We rented from National Rent a car. The ladies in Caracas are truly world class. I thought I broke my neck, not once, but twice from rubber necking. I stayed two nights on the weekend at a bargain rate. The room was rather small and worn. The rest of the hotel gives you an idea of finer times the hotel had-wide spacious lobby, sitting areas, marble floors, etc. Has all the facilites you would expect at a deluxe hotel. Room service was prompt, food good, the small menu available 24/7 if you really need a snack. Had a buffet breakfast (very large selection) but beware of food siting out on display all morning. Very nice omelette bar-made to order eggs. Plenty of parking (basically walking anywhere is a no payoff-nothing around the hotel/ have to walk up and down a long hill to get to the boulevard). Nice place to break yourself in as starting point for Caracas at the bargain rate I had received. Otherwise, better deluxe hotels for the rate-with better location to things-like restaurants, attractions, perhaps the airport, other.
Breakfast buffet, room service (nice-small helpings of local cuisine), and courteous staff. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Av. | | | | Two hotels near the international airport: FOR "OVERNIGHTERS" (Am I making up that word?) | | | | | |
Many tourists come to Venezuela, arrive at the Simon Bolivar International Airport and the very next day depart to Margarita Island, or Los Roques, or Canaima, or Los Andes, etc through the national airport (that is attached to the international one). So... everybody has to spend one night in Caracas. Well, I just stoped in a travel agency near by and asked them if there were any hotels near the airport. Yes they are! At least two of them!
1. HAMPTON phone number: 58-212-3317011 2.PUERTO VIEJO phone number: 58-212-3502500 The unfriendly girl at the tourist agency didnt give any more information. Period. Muchas gracias... Whenever I have time, I will find out about these places. I shouldent be posting this, I should investigate first. But there are 3 VT members coming to Venezuela and they need this information now. I will update and improve a.s.a.p. In # 6. Satisfaction and # 7 Price Per Person, and # 8 Comparative Price, I'm going to mark "not aplicable" just because I dont know anything about these places, but if they are mentioned in a travel agency they cant be bad... and it is just for the night...
