Savoy

After staying at a shadier hostel (the "backpackers hostel") my friend and I decided to shell out ten or so more bucks each and head to a nicer hotel. Savoy is near Sabana Grande and the Chacaito metro stop, near a large market, and it's not regarded as safe as Altamira but it's east of the center and pretty well located. Many people warned us of danger in the area, but I never had any problems. It's like a nice American hotel (the most valid comparison I can make being American) but more 70sish and cut in half. They don't skimp on staff and service, have internet and a restaurant/bar and pretty good security and alot of taxis a night. I definitely recommend it to those who can't afford the luxury of Altamira but are weary of some of the seedier places.
