More about Pueblo Caribe Hotel

We loved the Pueblo Caribe!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

After reading reviews of this hotel we went with some trepidation. How relieved we were when we got there. Service was excellent, rooms clean and cleaned every day.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Beach excellent, pools clean, etc, etc.
Only niggles were noisy aircon and the cleaners knocking the door early in the morning but this was stopped.
Hotel was rated as 2* and the food was probably 2*.
The rest of the hotel facilities was 3*+. We would go back tomorrow!
Eat out, it is excellent and cheap.
If you want to get out and about the taxis are really cheap, but not maintained (a bumpy experience) or go on an excursion.
Find Manuel on the beach (not Vincente) for the best deals.
Have fun, we did (me, my wife, our 6 kids and the mother in law!)

Great Resort

by A TripAdvisor Member

This resort was alot better than I expected. The service was good, Resort has a rustic flare it is very clean, pool and beach were great, food was awesome and the staff was absolutely fabulous. The resort is located in a local town of El Tirano, no big buildings around just locals. It was a great experience. I would definitely recommend it if you don't mind being surrounded with locals. We never got harrassed they were very friendly. Playa de Agua (tourist beach) is only a 5 minute taxi ride. Pueblo Caribe does have its own beach, but if you like a busy beach playa del agua is were to go. The local hang out is also located there (Woody's beach club). Everything is also very cheap.

if your watching your weight this hotel is ideal

We stayed at the pueblo caribe from 20th july until 4th August 05.
The rooms were clean, but had a strong smell of drains. We were very impressed with the hotel on arrival, which was late at night due to flight delays. However our attitude soon changed the next day.
We went for breakfast to find birds, flies and cockroaches also eating the food.
They do not cater for the english or for children. By the end of our holiday we had all lost weight and we all suffered from dioreah.
The hotels entertainment is also not reccommended for children as it is based mostly on sex acts.
The hotel was being refurbished and the building work that we had been informed about was at 4th storey level not at ground level. Every day we heard power tools, lorries and concrete pumps.
There were 2 restaurants and a sandwich bar despite descriptions saying there were 4 restaurants.
We saw the resident Toucan kill a rat and the staff were cruel to the wild puppy on the beach.
The beach was nothing like a carribean beach, it was filthy. We DO NOT reccommend that anyone let small children in the sea. It is difficult for the men to stay on their feet because of the undercurrents.
The island it's self is wonderful and the people are friendly. The water park is a brilliant day out as is the jeep safari. Go to the beach and ask around for Manwell or a colourd guy in a huge white jeep, they charge about £20, pick you up at 9am and drop you off around 8pm. They also include dinner and all drinks in the price.
We would definightly go back to Margarita but we would not stay at the Pueblo Caribe.

Jhon Jhon is the BEST tour coordinator EVER!

by TripAdvisor Member Travellin' Chica!

My family and I vacationed at the Pueblo Caribe from December 28th to January 4th 2006. It was very beautiful! We were fortunate to be able to deal with an AMAZING tour coordinator- Jhon Jhon. He organized and booked all of our day trips around the island. He was one of the best parts of our whole trip! He was extremely knowledgable about soooo many things-he knew all the history of the island and everything that you would ever want or need to know! We went on the Angels Falls/Canaima Park trip, the Jeep tour and the Cabatucan Horseback riding adventure. Our favourite was the horseback riding...which Jhon Jhon highly recommended. It was absolutely beautiful! We rode the horses for 2 hours- through the mountains, desert and on the beach. The stronger riders galloped up and down the beach. We would definetly recommend this to anyone who is going to Margarita Island. I would also recommend dealing with Jhon Jhon to book any trips! He is now working out of the Dunes Hotel on the Island, but he can book trips for anyone(from any hotel)...he speaks perfect english, also french, portugese, italian and of course spanish!

value for what you payed

by A TripAdvisor Member

just got back this morning from margarita,we had 2 weeks at the hotel,it was good the staff are very friendly.we thought the rooms were not of a high standard, very dark with the lightshades.the food was ok.all the bar staff were very nice & the service we got was good & very friendly,a few people had stomach upsets ,but most of us never had a problem,we thought it was value for money,we even had a mouse coming into several rooms at night.they were only after any food you had bought?.you can forget about hand towels you only get a bath towel each.the shopping centres in town to visit is sambil, the biggest in the caribbean.the tours to go & really enjoy is the ones to angel falls & cainama.the land cruiser is a great way to see a lot of the island.the artisan tour is great value for money,If you have any broken gold jewelery, you want repaired or made bigger,on this tour you can have it done really cheap, also the gold/emeralds are a lot cheaper than over here & the quality is very high,we bought several rings/chains.take us cash/cheques as they love us out there.this the second time we have been to margarita, the first was to the dunes,It was a lovely hotel.pearls are very cheap on the artisan tour also.you,ll have a great time in margarita, but remember it,s a poor island so don,t flash the cash/gold chains in town?

Absoloutely fantastic !!!!!!

by TripAdvisor Member grumpybird

This is the second time i have stayed at this property this year and it gets better and better .....

ok granted this is not 5* luxury BUT you get much more than what you pay for,

the rooms are clean the grounds are spotless

the Building work is non intrusive (we sunbathed by it every day and were not even interupted)

Anna Maria is a Fantastic rep - one of the best i have ever known - she genuinely wants you to have a fantastic holiday and there is nothing she will not help you with - we had last coach to the airport but she had already pre saved seats for our party so we were sat together.

If you want to eat chips all day then this is not the place for you !! they do not cater for total british taste - the food they provide is Fantastic authentic Venezulen food which is tasty and cooked well
there is the option of hot dogs and burgers between 11-4pm at the solymar bar - plus an Italian themed restaurant which serves the most fantastic beef lasangne + plus a snack bar serving toasted sandwiches ....

the waiting Staff are by far the Highlight of the day - making sure you have every drink you need - they even top up your beer so you dont have to pour it yourself !!

All the bar staff are friendly and hardworking

the animation Team led by Juan Carlos from Brazil are all fantastic, they make sure you get the most out of the holiday- the evening shows were brilliant - he did a fantastic Freddie mercury impression !!

Over all the hotel is a little piece of Heaven - but if you want chips and english beer - GO TO SPAIN !!!!!

This is the caribbean and its Fantastic !!

would i go again DEFINATELY !!!!"

Does it get any better? I think not.

Have just returned from one of the best holidays ever.

First I'll start with the negative - there wasn't any!!

And as for the positive....

Rooms. We were in a lovely room on the ground floor near the back pool and sandwich bar. Our room was on the ground floor and kept clean and tidy throughout our stay.

Amenities. As I've said, we were by the pool. I'm not what you might call a confident swimmer but my son is. The pools are deep enough for adults to enjoy but not enough to panic anyone. At the deepest it's about 4ft6 ~140 cms.And a jacuzzi with seating area near the mini waterfall- very civilised.

Staff. All fabulously helpful. We tipped our maid on the first day and had no worries there. The bar and restaurant staff were always polite and helpful. Possibly even a little flirty -which I can tell you helps the holiday confidence!!

Entertainment. There is a daily programme of entertainment provided bythe Animation team. My son loved Rudolpho & Juan who played volleyball and waterbasketball virtually everyday in the main pool.
In the evenings there is a a show on just about every night. It varies between showcasing Latin style thorugh to comedy and then back via pop parodies. Great fun and just right for the whole family.

Food. I eat anything but my son can be picky. We never went hungry. To the point that we ate at the beach restaurant a couple of times because he loved the chicken so much. I almost forgot to go over to the lunch buffet because of the cheese toasties at the far pool. Breakfast was always plentiful and served by cheerey staff. Evening meals were fab too. I sampled most stuff, my son mainly ate pasta but that was his choice and far more variety than either of us could get around in our time there. We were also treated to some themed food nights. Again fab food and great service.

Alcohol! Hey it's the Caribbean what can I say?! The Gatwick crew that we were with started of drinking/ Chandi time at about 11, progressing on to Pina Colado by mid afternoon through to Rum punch, Coco Loco and locally produced beer through the night. All of it exquisite quality.

Fellow guests. For me this was the icing on the cake. Everyone seemed to be there to enjoy just as much as we were. If I could go back there tomorrow I'd be off like a shot.

Excursions. We did some with our tour operator and some via a guy on the beach. No complaints about either.

Locals. Made some new friends. Everyone seemed to e geniune, friedly and appreciates the finances we're putting into their economy

We loved This Hotel.

We returned from margarita Nov 29 and had 14 wonderful days on the Island.
Yes the food could be better but we did`nt have any stumach problems, we drank juice and had ice in the drinks without problems.we did`nt drink the water though.
Everything was clean and we only saw 1 cockcroch while we were there.
The beach was wonderful and everyone at the hotel did their best to make it a wonderful holiday for the guests.
We will definitely go back so that our children can experience this wonderful place. By the way, the food is perfect for children as they can eat burgers, pizza, lasagna or spaghetti every day.
Dont hesitate to choose this hotel with children.

Awesome trip... will probably go back again...

by TripAdvisor Member mike1975canada

Just got back... it was awesome...

Take your imodium, all 8 people in my group needed it...
due to the dehydration (breeze, intense sun, and great
coconut drinks?)

The island is great the people are very nice, and not at all
pushy (ie dominican republic),

Take the Jeep tour for sure... $45 US for a full day of jeeping
- we saw almost the entire island, 3-4 beaches, a rain forest,
boat tour in the mangroves (starfish, seahorses), offroading,
towns, great lunch on a beach, and finished up with watching
the sunset from a mountain-top... the bar jeep also has beer,
cocktails, water and pop at every stop - all you can drink... it was
the best island activity I've done so far... ask for "Hosé" with the
yellow jeep... we ended up giving him a $45 tip cause we had
such a great day...

Also be sure to go to "playa el agua" the beach that's about 10
minutes up the road... it was beautiful and we had a lot of fun
playing in the surf... the ocean is warm... and the waves are big.
