Before I moved to Düsseldorf I'd only been to Duisburg to watch rowing competitions. It was nice always but I never saw much of the city. |
|  | Today, however, I found a great spot in Duisburg - the "Landschaftspark Nord". I spent many hours there this afternoon. And I took more than 130 pictures... |
Apart from being the grounds of an old ironworks this park offers many kinds of entertainment. Gasworks were turned into a scuba diving tank and old walls of the factory were turned into a freeclimbung park. Like this picture says: Das Ruhrgebiet lebt (Ruhr area is still alive) ...even though its factories have died! | | |

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Ruhrgebeit. All that industrial heritage looks amazing, in its own special way, but it doesn't get much love from the tourist crowd. When I was in Duisburg we went to Zollverein, in Essen, which was just so photogenic. | diocletianvs Sat Aug 28, 2004 18:19 UTC
Yes, this is the one! I'm sure after I visit this park it will become my favourite! (And thank God I just bought another 256MB memory card - I see I'm gonna need it here ;) Any trains running here or it's only rowing? LOL |
