Hi!
I went to Dublin five times already and I really love the place. There's so much to do, to see and to drink and buy - it's my own little big paradise ;-)
I could walk around town there for hours just sucking in the atmosphere...I love the people and their humour, the smell (a mixture of Guinness, the sea and rush hour), quiet walks along the liffey early in the morning, the northside with their special people, the port and docks, the accent, the places at the coast, the shops, EVERYTHING!
Last time I was here was for New Year's 2006/2007, the second time I spent New Years here. So it's time for an update. Please be patient!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my kind of Dublin....

| | In Dublin there are many interesting places to visit, e.g. museums, statues etc. However, there is no Eiffel tower here and no Big Ben either. A stay here is more about getting a feel for the atmosphere, about meeting the people and about walking around a lot.
One of my favourite places to visit in Dublin is Kilmainham Jail, the former prison in the west of Dublin. They offer great tours there and you will be able to smell history here!
Another favourite place of mine is the seafront, no matter where in Dublin. I like Clontarf with its great views of the port and Dublin Bay. Great day trip destinations you can reach on the DART (the suburban railyway) are Howth, Dalkey and Bray. |
Another great thing about Dublin is the pubs of course. I had so many great nights here - it's unbelieveable. Just make sure you leave Temple Bar and see "the real thing"!
Temple Bar is the area where most tourists go out. You hardly meet any locals here. There are a few exceptions to the rule but I generally try to avoid Temple Bar when I am in Dublin. | | | Gareth drinking his Guinness "the dry way" |
