  • Josefov, the old Jewish quarter and cemetary. I loved walking around the cemetary looking at all the stones people left to remember the dead. But that was before this place was full of tourists!

Golden Lane: Golden Lane (Zlata Ulicka)
  • Tip Rating:
  • Golden Lane (Zlata Ulicka) and the house where Kafka lived. Unfortunately this lovely lane at Prague castle is never empty. There's always lots of people here who spoil the thing a bit. When I was here first in 1990 it was completely empty!

  • Close to the Hrad, the castle of Prague, there is a lovely quarter full of old colourful houses and galleries called Novy Svet.
It feels like walking through another century! Wonderful and when I was there it wasn't touristy at all.

    Things To Do: Czech Music
  • Tip Rating:
  • Prague - Czech Bumsmusik
  • Czech "Bumsmusik"
  • by sabsi
  • Send Photo to a Friend
  • I'll never forget our faces when we were on a school trip and our teacher said he wanted to go to a real 'Bumslokal' with us that night. We thought he was talking about the red light district but he meant a pub with traditional music :)

    Charles Bridge: Charles Bridge
  • Tip Rating:
  • During a week in Prague the typical tourist crosses Charles Bridge (Karluv Most) at least a hundred times ;-) Make sure to admire the lovely statues instead of falling for the people selling you crap for too much money ;)

Prague Castle: The castle (Prazsky Hrad)
  • Tip Rating:
  • The castle (Prazsky Hrad) is a must when visiting Prague. Get a tour or listen to one you didn't pay to learn a lot about the history or Prague and Europe.

    Things To Do: German embassy
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is where history took place in 1989. Thousands of GDR citizens camped on the embassy ground for a few weeks because they refused to go back to the GDR. That's how the 'revolution' started, they were allowed to leave to West Germany after a while and a short while later the wall came down.

Oh, the embassy is the big building at the forest!

    Petrin: Petrin Hill
  • Tip Rating:
  • Prague Petrin
  • Little Eiffel Tower
  • by sabsi
  • Send Photo to a Friend
  • Take the funicular to the little Eiffel Tower on Petrin Hill. There's the tower and a funny mirror hall in there and you get great views of the city from here!

I have heard from a tourguide once that it is the same height as the real Eiffel Tower in Paris - if you count the hill underneath and the tower itself.

Directions: There's a tram stop of the 22 in front of the funicular station. It's north of the river left of Charles Bridge.

The mole pictures are cute ... my favourite kiddie TV show ever. I liked the Oliver Bierhoff story, too.
