Nightlife Spot: Not existant?!

Well we do have a lot of nice bars, restaurants and pubs here.... some of them I will show you on this page. But still Hannover isn't a nightlife city. There is no place that I like to go dancing, (Makes me feel old), huge parties in town mostly are terribly boring, the certain something is missing. But new bars and pubs open every month and some of them are great!

Nightlife Spot: Ständige Vertretung

When the German capital was changed from Bonn to Berlin the members of parliament suddenly lost their local bar where they could drink 'Kölsch' and celebrate 'Karneval'. That's when in Berlin a bar called 'Ständige Vertretung' opened and people loved it because it brought some 'Rheinland' feeling to Berlin.

After new bars in Berlin and Hamburg a 'Ständige Vertretung' was opened in Hannover recently. So when I leave my new home in the 'Rheinland' for a weekend in Hannover I can make sure I get my local drink and food there now, too ;)

Nightlife Spot: Bismarckbahnhof

A nice bar in an old railway station. Some of the food is rather nice (Gleis I or Gleis II). The country potatoes 'Hot & Spicy' are really tasty!!

Since they closed down 'our' Finnegans Wake this was our home for pub quiz evenings (Every monday) until we found another one just recently.

Nightlife Spot: Chimu

For the last 20 years or so this South American restaurant has been serving food and drink in Hannover. Jaime, the owner, mixes the best cocktails of the whole town - and they are not overpriced as in newer places.

Nightlife Spot: Cafe Caldo

It doesn't matter whether you are heterosexual or homosexual .. this is a great place with atmosphere. People sing along to the very loud 70s music.... very amusing :-)
You can get little snacks here as well as every drink you can imagine. The baguettes are really tasty!!

Smelly, big, crowded, old fashioned. Don't try to find your own seat, the waitress will ;-) Best Currywurst in town!!!
