Finally an England page :)

by sabsi - last update: Jun 14, 2003

Stereotype England: Phone Boxes
Until this year everytime I was in England it was either on a short trip to London or just going through. But I had always dreamt of seeing places like Liverpool, York or Newcastle.
Whitby - a great location for an argument
Now I finally had the chance to see more of this beautiful country. And .... VT mad it possible :)

I visited Steve and Susan Tilly who I met on VT ages ago and we travelled around the north of England. Along the way I met many other friendly VTers who showed me bits of their country, cooked for me, let me stay in their house. Thanks to everybody I met. I had a wonderful time!
Newcastle streets
The itinerary of my 12 days through England was like this:
DAY 1 - Cologne - Brussels - London - Darlington by train.
DAY 2 - York.
DAY 3 - Lake District: Ullswater, Keswick.
DAY 4 - Lake District: Grasmere, Rydal, Ambleside, Keswick.
DAY 5 - Liverpool, West Kirby.
DAY 6 - Chester.
DAY 7 - Middlesbrough, Darlington.
DAY 8 - Durham, Newcastle.
DAY 9 - Runswick Bay, Whitby.
DAY 10 - Oxford.
DAY 11 - London.
DAY 12 - London - Brussels - Home.

I will use this page for a general overview on England, see my location pages for more detailed information on the places I visited.

Enjoy!
