John and Heather stranded on a tropical island!

by piwowarRTW - last update: Sep 10, 2002

...well, okay, only stranded for 5 days. :-)

After months of wedding planning and two intense wedding weekends, it's time to relax. How does 5 days in a beach bungalow on a tropical island sound? Sounded pretty good to us, too.

We took off from Vancouver International at 7PM on the 27th, leaving Heather's parents with and empty house for the first time in a week and a half, and hopefully allowing them to return to get back to their normal lives for the first time since Christmas at least! After one very short stopover in Honolulu, where we were able to step out of the terminal just long enough to get some warm non-airplane air (yay!), were were airborne again and bound for Rarotonga in the Cook Islands!

Between Feb 28 and *very* early in the morning on March 5th, we were lounging around in Rarotonga,Cook Islands, soaking up tropical sunshine when it wasn't raining, and turning our North American winter skin a warm shade of red.

Now that we're in a place that doesn't charge 50 cents a minute for internet access (it' expensive in the islands, though the exchange rate made it "only" 25 cents really), we've added a bit more about our Cook Islands trip. Check the travelogue on the sidebar on the right.
