Restaurant Name: Mc Donald's an Co.
Well, this is not really a 'Must see', as it no longer exists. This is the first McDonald's, that was built in Beijings Wangfujing Road. It was pulled down, when Wangfujing was turned into a modern shopping mall. It definitely had the best and cheapest coffee in Beijing. There are now many McDs in Beijing, still the best coffee!!!! The second pic is of the first menu of the first McDonald's in Beijing! I just had to keep it as a souvenir! When the first McD was opened in Bejing in 1991 it was a mayor attraction for the Chinese tourists coming to Beijing. An overview of American Cuisine gives Frommer's: "American fast-food outlets are ubiquitous. KFC, the most popular among locals, opened its 70th branch in the city in 2001 and has more than 80 now. McDonald's is a close second, with around 60. Subway and even A&W are also in the mix. For sandwiches, there are several other choices: Schlotsky's Delis (in the Oriental Plaza and China World Trade Center), the highly recommended Super 24 (halfway up Sanlitun bar street), and Sammie's next to the SilkStreet Market. Among sit-down options are Pizza Hut, T.G.I. Friday's, Henry J. Bean's (in the China World complex), the American-owned Outback Steakhouse, and the Beijing Hard Rock Cafe."

Restaurant Name: Paulaner Bräuerei
Certainly there is no need to eat at a German Restaurant in Beijing, as there is so much wonderful Chinese food to discover in Beijing! But when my friend Gaby visited me in Beijing in 1993, she prefered to eat at the Paulaner. So this pic shows us enjoying the German Beer - freshly brewed in Beijing. As I now found out, there is a German Beergarden at the Great Wall at Badaling. I put it under "Warnings"

Restaurant Name: Green Tianshi Vegetarian Restaurant
"No smoking, no alcohol, no eggs, no meat" they say in their business cards. The restaurant is conveniantly located north of of the Dong Tang, the Eastern Cathedral, and not far from Wanfujing. The room is very clean and full of light. Staff is extremely friendly. You enter this vegetarian restaurant and then the surprise: you'll find many meat dishes on the menu. And you can even order a beer! Well, the meat is imitated (Dofu) and the beer is alcoholfree! And everything tastes delicious! I have just read, that the restaurant has been closed in September 2005. I'll try to find out more.
Favorite Dish: The speciality of dishes is the imitation of real meat not only in appearance but also in taste. They use only very fresh vegetables, soyabeans, mushrooms and bean curd (tofu).
