AREA CODE CHANGES IN ROMANIA

According to the information of the Romanian telecommunications company the area codes of the Romanian fixed-line network will change on June 14, 2002. Following this date a 2 has to be added before old area codes (e.g. the area code of Bucharest was 1 whereas the new code is 21, the area code of Arad was 57 whereas the new code is 257).

In addition to area codes, the service access numbers of mobile service providers will also change as follows:

Mobile service provider Old ............New

Orange Romania .........+40 90/94/95 ...+40 74

MobiFon ................+40 91/92/93 ...+40 72

CosmoRom ...............+40 96 .........+40 76

TeleMobil ..............+40 98 ........+40 78

The country code 40 for Romania will not change.
