    • I regularly take visitors from abroad (or in fact, if they are from somewhere in The Netherlands too) on a little stroll through Brielle.Showing them some highlights of our little town but leaving enough to explore later!

    The following 30-odd tips are a description of the walk that I usually take. With a liquid reward at the end!

    • The first stop is a little square called Wellerondom. There is a canon there and stocks which are always fun to try out.

    • Most houses in Brielle are very old as the city is nearly a 1000 years old.
    Many houses date back to the 16th century.

    • The oldest building in Brielle is St. Catherines Church and it's tower which double-functioned as lighthouse from the times that Brielle was a major seaport.

    • St. Catherines was planned to be twice as large as it turned out to be. Even in the 15th century money ran short fast.

    • In summer the park in front of the sea-men's house turns into a rose garden. It's lovely to sit on a bench and enjoy the sunshine.

    • At this point we're only 7 minutes from starting point. But of course one looks around, takes pictures so it takes a little longer.
    Turning a corner one finds oneself at the old harbour where now various yachts and boats are moored.
