by Easty - last update: Jun 22, 2004

Northern Point of the Jersey Shore

Sandy Hook from Twin Lighthouse
The Atlantic Highlands of New Jersey has the highest elevation along the Atlantic Ocean south of Maine. This area is the northernmost point of the Jersey Shore. With spectacular lighthouses and easily accesible beaches, this makes for a nice day trip from anywhere in New York Metropolitan region.

Thanks for the introduction. Always searching for new & interesting places in NJ when we visit our son. Just did Mt.Tabor and had a great day.

Sandy Hook is a birdwatcher's paradise, has a new bicycle path, (bicyclists enter S.H. for free), museum, and lots of military ruins- but as you say, weekends are busy.

I think the admission is $10 b/c I used to live there;-) Sandy Hook is nice, though...I see you didn't happen to go to Gunnison (aka the nude beach)...why not, Joe? Good choice not to, there are some scary gunnifreaks
