| Winding road in Taroko National Park |
From the busy city scene of Taipei, we took the train to Taroko Gorge in Hualien County and stayed overnight at Tianshiang. The scenery here is just magnificant. I don't know if words can describe it. Beautiful marble canyon, deep valley and very tall cliffs. Some of the road on this stretch of the Central Cross Island Highway is quite narrow and only a bus can barely pass by at a time. But the highway itself is truely an engineering masterpiece, as it cuts through the mountains and joining the East and West Coast. |
