This the tourist heaven. It faces the popular assembly National and is close to WH Smith. Most expensive hotels are also located all around this place.

Historically, this is said to be the begining of Paris. The architectural works made it a masterpiece and a must visit.

Versaille is about 80 miles from Latin Quater or generally from the centre. Its better done by train as taxi would be unduely expensive. Though mid April is not the peak period for tourists, I will still advise you go as you already planned; that is on tuesday. This way you if you leave as early as 7am you can do most of the important tours inside the Chateaux. Then save another weekend to enjoy the outside seanery, including the water fountain. Versaille is not a place you can do in one day depending on the type of information you are seeking, the exterior/landscape is a beauty that needs to be explore in detail.
