Photos comingTromsø Idrettslag - TIL for short - is said to be the world's northernmost premier division football club. I'm not sure if that's completely true, but I *do* know that if you decide to watch a game in Tromsø early or late in the season you will have to put on your woolen underwear! (The Norwegian football season starts in early/mid April, and ends in early November.) I have watched TIL play at Alfheim stadium twice - and it snowed both times. Lovely. ;o) TIL haven't been doing great in the last few seasons - I'm just hoping they'll avoid relegation, as long as Tromsø plays in the top division I'll be able to watch *my* team, Brann, in Tromsø...;o) TIL's proudest moment in recent years would probably be their victory over the Turkish club Galatasaray in the UEFA Cup in 2005. Tromsø plays their home games at Alfheim stadium, which is situated a short walk from the town centre. The stadium was built in 1987, and artificial turf was installed at Alfheim in 2006. (The pitch was usually reduced to a muddy field towards the end of the season - so it was a choice between two evils!) The stadium has a capacity of only around 9000 - but that's big enough, really, TIL doesn't generally draw the big crowds... ;o)

ok, ok, so 85 is a bit on the low side. fine, i'll make it a hundred - but that's as far as i'll go. maybe i should rephrase it to "100 reasons why you probably won't like me." is that a bit less troubling???=) |
