  • The Norway in a Nutshell is by far the most popular "tour" in Norway. It's just a combination of tickets using regular public transport, so please don't expect a tour guide - but the Nutshell is, in my opinion, the best way to see the fjords if you don't have much time. (I'd strongly recommend not doing it as a daytrip from Oslo though, as it will be a rather long and tiring day (plus you'd miss Bergen!;o) - you can stay one or more nights anywhere along the route.)

Tickets to the Nutshell can be bought online, on www.norwaynutshell.com - and buying your tickets on the Nutshell website generally isn't more expensive than buying all the tickets (trains, boat, bus) separately! (Please see my transportation tip about the Nutshell for more details.)

However, I know that various tour operators abroad sell Nutshell tickets - and these are often *very* expensive! I would strongly recommend buying your Nutshell tickets on the official Nutshell website, unless of course you have too much money and are interested in getting rid of some. ;o)

hi! (thought i'd send you a very short message for a change, possibly the shortest possible message anyone can send as i don't want to take up your precious time - being that you are surely busy with matters far more important than reading the word "hi")

Halifax? Only possibly the quirkiest VT Meet EVER!! Going round a scarecrow festival and then watching the rushbearing and even clay pigeon shooting the following morning!!! Ricky52 is hosting the meeting on 5 - 7 September! Gillybob greetings

My husband's family is from Rogaland. Pinnekjot and smalahove are traditional holiday and fall meals. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in the process of both entrees. Very interesting and surprisingly tasty!

Hi, Thanks for all the tips you've given! I'm thinking of going to Bergen/Oslo at the beginning of April. Do you think this is a good time to see the sights?
