Getting TO/AROUND: Air Rarotonga will take you from the international airport at Rarotonga to many of the other islands in both the Northern and the Southern group of the Cook Islands: the destinations are Aitutaki, Atiu, Mangaia, Mauke and Mitiaro in the Southern group, Manihiki, Penrhyn and Pukapuka in the Northern group. The airline also offers very popular day trips to Aitutaki - but it's really worth spending more than just a few hours on this beautiful, friendly island..! The flight to Aitutaki takes around 40 minutes, and there are several flights from Rarotonga every day except Sundays, when there's only one flight. Tickets can be booked online, or at the travel agencys in Avarua, Rarotonga.

Getting TO/AROUND: Rarotonga is only 32 kilometres in circumference, and a scooter is a great way to get around. Before hitting the road, you need to get a valid Cook Islands driver's license at the Police Station in Avarua - if you aren't licensed to driving scooters or motorbikes at home, you need to pass a driving test, (basically driving 50 metres down the road without falling off the scooter) otherwise you just show your valid home country license. Cost: NZ10 if your license is valid for motorbikes An additional NZ5 if you need to take the driving test Bring a photo for your brand new license! :o) The license desk is open Monday to Friday from 08 to 15, Saturday and Sunday from 08 to 12. You can rent a scooter from several companies, including Island Car & Bike Hire in Arorangi, and Rarotonga Rentals near the airport. Do remember to drive on the left side of the road...!;-)
