| Merry Christmas everyone x |
Christmas is around the corner! - this got me thinking about what we, as kids, did on Christmas Day. Growing up we would go to an inner city hospital after church on Christmas Day, to take pressies for those who had no family visit them on Christmas Day. They were too sick to go home.
We especially used to go to the terminal ward for children - there's nothing more special than seeing a child give a broad smile and hold your hand, even though they don't know you. How special is that? We sang with the kids and helped make their Christmas special. I was a child myself at the time... and this meant the world to me! My friends at school thought it weird and felt sorry for me, saying ''You must have had a horrible Christmas Jenny'' - where the reverse was actually true.
Anyway, the true gift at Christmas is Jesus - not pressies... and so to bring a bit of joy and laughter into a hospital ward on a bright Christmas Day is probably the best present we could have brought them.

| Brother Les, Cayla and Joel - April 2008 :) |
| | Latest travels! We visited the tranquil and green Lake District area in July 2008 for a week. We stayed in a gorgeous self catering cottage in Bouth, a small village about 20 minutes from Windermere. When you look out the old cottage window all you see are rolling fields, sheep and some distant cows. Bliss :) We relaxed, read, braaied, went on walks, sailed, fished, ate good food, visited Beatrix potter's farm home, and visited Muncaster Castle and the spectacular owls at the Owl Sanctuary! I will write some tips for this lovely area soon

| | Meeting friends :)So many people we have met here have become good friends. Our stories of meetings and the people we have met are on our Greater London and England pages. We had a lovely time with Kat, Berni, Carl and some pals in March 2007!
Kitkat (keida84) came to London after spending precious time with Berni and Carl in Upwell. Kat is a friend for life, and a second big sister to me. Berni and Carl are also wonderful souls, we are surrounded by people who have touched my husband and I in a huge way, who have made a big impact on our lives. For that we will always be grateful. We had a fantastic time, meeting up at the Royal Albert Hall (where Berni and Carl were going to see Madame Butterfly), and then wandered off to find a restaurant. This photo is from a meeting I arranged in June 2007... where we went to the Borough Market on London's south bank. We then went to the Clink Prison Museum, the Golden Hinde (Francis Drake's ship!), had a drink at The Anchor pub on the Thames, finishing off at Nandos for a delicious meal. ~ I finally got to meet Rex... Sacra and their wonderful family! His family came to England (and Paris!) in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary... and what a fabulous time was had by all. Such warm and friendly folk from the States, they reminded me very much of the genuineness and closeness of my brother's American in-laws in North Carolina, so I felt right at home! Laughing and joking from the outset. |

| | Pause for thought...LIVING HOPE CENTRE & HIV AIDS It was started by the church we used to attend in Fish Hoek, Cape Town, pastored by John Thomas. They have done and continue to do a wonderful work for the community near them, which has a huge HIV Aids problem.
