Ciao Bella!

by shutterlust - last update: Jan 19, 2007

What a way to start the day!

Italian Breakfast
I love Rome!

It's a beautiful and very ancient (duh!) city that's so unlike New York. It's very laid back and everyone just seems to CHILL all the time.

The traffic is a bit crazy but after about 2 hours of walking around, I figured it out. It's not so bad. You just need to keep your pace and just WALK.

The guys were sweet, although a little too aggressive in their pick-up lines. The best one was "I wish I were ice cream!" as my friend and I are licking our gelatos. At least they only looked and didn't TOUCH! (check out my Paris page for reference).

The cobblestones are even worse than London's and definitely are heels' mortal enemy...besides gravel.

There's graffiti EVERYWHERE and the trains look worse than Queens, but at least they're easy to understand (the trains, I mean) considering there ARE only two lines.

But the food was amazing, there are water fountains everywhere and I will never tire of hearing "Ciao Bella!" all the time! It just sounds so fun! And it's so fun to say!
The Colliseum

I'm in love with a man nearly twice my age...

NOT!

What is with older guys and younger girls? I mean...do they really think a young girl is gonna go for them? It's such a Lolita phenomenon. I don't think I'll ever understand it.

I mean, I understand when younger guys trying hitting on girls. It makes sense. But when a guy is like...old enough to be my father...that's just weird! I mean, I have friends who are my dad's age, who I work with at my father's office...but they try to set me up with their sons, which makes more sense than them trying to set me up with themselves. Ew.

Blah. Sorry. This is such a premature little rant. Italy is beautiful. Go see it! And cover yourselves up, ladies!

The road less taken...

Went on this little mini-break with my friend, Danielle. We really didn't have any sort of itinerary at all. We knew the major places: the Pantheon, the Colliseum, and Vatican City, but that was about it.

We basically walked all over the place and "discovered" areas that we very well could have read about in guidebooks. We went to Tratavere, Piazza Navona, Spagna, Villa Borghese, the Ghetto, etc. It was great and there was gelato EVERYWHERE! yummm..

I've made my decision. I don't like street sellers. At all.

Pros:"The food, the wine, the architecture, the shops, and the weather (in the spring)"
Cons:"Cobblestones, motorcycles, aggressive waiters, "bread" charges, and graffiti"
In A Nutshell:"Amazing place to visit but I couldn't imagine living here!"
