Royal National Park Warnings Or Dangers
Sort by: Most Recent | Best Rated | Author's Order

Warnings Or Dangers: Snakes....
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Aussie bush is home to snakes. A fair few of the too. I have seen a few on my walks, but encounters are rare as they are often more afraid of you and have much better senses so know you are coming and move away without you even acknowlegding their presence. If a snake is on your trail either wait til it moves off, stamp so it is scared off or turn back.... Common sense really. It is good to know first aid and bush safety before you enter the Aussie bush and to wear appropriate footwear. Also take along the Poisons Information Service phone # 13 11 26, incase you are bitten (rare if you are sensible).

    Warnings Or Dangers: Blue Bottles
  • Tip Rating:
  • Blue bottles are jelly-fish like creatures that are brought in by waves. They can leave a nasty sting if the come in contact with you. If you see blue bottles washed up on the beach (the have a clear bubble-like head and a long blue tail, avoid standing on the tails in bare feet, even if they look dead and dont go swimming- If there is one blue bottle there tends to be millions as they come in on the tide in colonies. In popular beaches there are warning signs, but on less popular beaches you must use your own judgement. If you are stung, wash the area and apply ice.
