Long Beach has made some dramatic changes over the years. I think it can compete with Santa Monica when it comes to shopping and night life. Unfortunately, what Long Beach doesn't offer is the sandy beaches with people leisurely laying out, frolicking at the surf's edge and life guard towers overseeing the shoreline. Long Beach is filled with bridges, boats and concrete. It has the Queen Mary, the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific and Ports O' Call to name a few attractions. Lots of great restaurants and hotels to stay at. It's probably much more reasonable to stay in Long Beach than in Santa Monica. |
