The rooms are excellent - double jacuzzi plus large shower room. The resort is huge and can result in a good 5 minute walk to the restaurants. At check-in when you are allocated your room ask the desk clerk to show you on the map where your room is situated. If you are not happy with its location ask him for one closer to the sea or restaurants. It is much easier to get it sorted there and then than to request a change of room later.
Unique Qualities: Moon Palace is not the place to stay if you want a hectic nightlife. They do have shows at both resorts and a disco at the Sunrise, but if you are into the clubbing scene, suggest you stay at one of the hotels in the Hotel Zone.
Some seaweed on beach, but not as bad as I had imagined from reading bulletin boards. A tractor clears the seaweed at the water's edge twice a day, but it didn't detract me from going into the sea every day. I must admit, however, that not many people did go in. The sea is very calm here with the colour exactly the same as in England, not the turquoise colour that you get at the Hotel Zone, but the waves are larger there.

Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: The resort is vast with no other hotels nearby. It is around a 20 minute taxi ride to the Hotel Zone (cost 140 pesos). However there are free buses, starting at 12 noon, that will take you there.
