ATLC promotes NL abroad

In Laval, France

Many times I go abroad, there is some reason to dress up in the "national costume".
But I absolutely refuse to dress up in the woman's clothes to avoid having to wear the headdress. Makes me look even more like a monkey. So I dress up as your average Dutch farmer but am brave enough to wear the clogs. :-)

Here we made dresses and skirts made of orange football flags with the Dutch Lion (Nederlandsche Leeuw) and the text Hup Holland Hup (GO NL, GO!)

Do you think walking on wooden clogs is easy? You're right, it's not. Nor is it comfortable. Unless you walk on them every day, always... then the calouses will make you unfeeling.
So here comes my trick:

I take broad Hansaplast and tape thin sanitary napkins over the top of my feet, just leaving the toes free.
And then I put on thick woollen socks.
And then I can walk, run and dance all day long without so much as a blink or a blister.

Brasov, Romania 2000

Orange is the national colour of The Netherlands. But it's also my favourite colour!
My friend Mariana from Romania, had her hair coloured orange. Great idea, I thought ....

You are right, my father and uncles know some of these classic books! I will look for the English versions for my daughter who loves to read. Thanks for this!
