Westelijk Handelsterrein | ROTTERDAM WESTELIJK HAVENTERRREIN |
These warehouses have recently been restored and rented out to restaurants, wineseller, travel agency. Lots of live music and events. It's the newest, trendy secret of Rotterdam.
I'll find time soon to make more photo's of this lovely quarter of town. |
This neighbourhood breathes the old grandeur of the old harbour city Rotterdam. Located on the border of the river Maas, it has tall, old houses, streets lined with beautiful trees and many good restaurants. It's not quite in the center but walkable from Metro Leuvehaven or in a straight line down from Central Station (a 20 minute walk) along the Westersingel (watch out for this tree!), crossing Vasteland and down into Scheepstimmermanslaan. This street goes to the Scheepvaartskwartier. Here find Zenne, Chaloup, Leendert & Zn. (see restaurant tips). My favourite grand café is Loos. Walk along the river Maas with fabulous views of Erasmus bridge, hotel New York and the busy boat traffic. |
