Getting into the Swim of things! Here's the mass start as the 720 Triathletes plunge into the chilly water of Hubbles lake to begin a 2km swim! The winner did it in under 27 minutes. |
The Pumpkin patch Here are three of my Atlantic Giants sunning themselves |
Giant puffball from my lawn These enormous fungi grew on my lawn last summer after a lot of rain. The biggest was nearly 2' across and weiged about 20 pounds. They are edible too when young and can be sliced and fried like other mushrooms. |
The other Hubbles Telescopes! I set my two telescopes up on my acreage to observe the wonders of the night sky from a relatively dark site. |
My Back Yard Autumn colours are beautiful in October. |
Early morning rainbow over my garden |
Great White North Triathlon at Hubbles Lake This neat little town of 10,000 just west of Edmonton is noted for it's many murals painted on the buildings in the centre of town. The Great White North Triathlon is held every July to test the endurance of more than 800 athletes as they swim 2km, bike 90 km and run 20km in under 4 hours! Combine harvester in the Glory Hills Stony Plain lies in a rich farming area. Here a huge combine picks up the swathed barley and separates it from the chaff. Photo was taken just 1/2 km down the road from my house. |
My first attempt at Growing Giant Sunflowers |
A great year for sunflowers |
Winter time is beautiful too! Winter is beautiful in this area too, with lots of cross-country skiing. The picture shows my driveway entrance on a frosty morning! |
My garden in summer Everything from Asparagus to Zucchini! The yellow flowers are calendula to keep the pests away. If you want to see some REALLY BIG ENORMOUS VEGGIES: John Evans in Akaska http://www.recordholders.org/en/ records/vegetables2.html |
