Seals at Kaikoura

by Kate-Me - last update: Feb 26, 2004

Isn't he a cutie? One of the babies I think, lounging on the rocks. I have to give my husband the credit for taking this shot. All the others to follow are taken by me....

UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Asleep in the carpark.... still very cute
They made a nice silhouette on the rocks in the mist.
Seeing how close I can approach without invading their personal space...
Quite close as he was asleep almost as if dead (the first time I saw them was in the carpark when we pulled up, a little group of 3 of them, and they were so still I thought they were all dead!). I was so relieved to see their chests moving.
No action here at all...
Not much movement here, just a flipper waving lazily in the slight breeze, otherwise he appeared completely asleep.

Greg (the artist) is a fantastic guy - extremely friendly and extremely talented. We believe that his maternal/paternal ancestors are maori. Tattoos are expensive but not as much as UK, and designs are so unique. We'll go back!

Nice photos in your T-logs and tips, it brings back memories. When we did a long walk we invaded some sea lions space and he was a bit agressive towards us, so be always careful. Great page.
