| Page Views: 2,981 Last Visit to Hannover: August, 2003 I Used To Live Here | Zoo Hannover ++ Simply the best! by sabsi - last update: Aug 25, 2003 |
| My favourites: Erdmännchen! |
I might be biased but I think I am not: Hannover Zoo is the most gorgeous zoo in the world for me (and I have seen a few as I like zoos - I'm always on the run searching for kangaroos!!!).
It's been completely restructured for the Expo so now it's the most modern zoo I know... Come one - I show you around a bit! |
| | Animal Babies In spring 2003 quite a few babies were born in the zoo. Here is one of my favourites - little Carlos, the Tapir baby having a bath with his dad. |
Carlos exploring his new home!
| | Here's one of the two elephant babies that were born in 2003. They are the main attraction of Hannover zoo these days. And very cute, aren't they? |
There are two small tigers as well now. They were born in May and are real cuties every visitor would love to take home ;-)
| Frank and the elephant fountain |
| | Jungle Palace The elephants, tigers and a few others live in the Jungle Palace. There's prayer flags, temples and a funny elephant fountain here. Press a button and the elephant will stop spitting and starts peeing ;-) |
Sometimes the elephants can leave their home to show their circus skills.
| | Some funny apes live opposite the elephants along with some Barasinghas. This little fella was riding on his friend and jumped around his back like crazy. |
In the end his friend got a kiss...
| | ...and he needed some rest. |
Sambesi One of the zoo's main attraction is the Sambesi - the African quarter of the zoo. Here you can see hippos under water, funny pelicans and flamingoes, giraffes, lions, zebras etc etc etc.
| | The main attraction here is a boat trip along the many animals. For 12 minutes you can cruise the Sambesi and enjoy the silence, the little details at the boat and the "harbour" and the views along the way! |
This is how close you get to the giraffes at Sambesi
| | Australia After crossing a bridge from the African Sambesi landscape you end up in Australia. Here you can find Emus, Wombats and my favourites - kangaroos. |
Make sure to visit the toilets within the zoo. The ones in Sambesi (pic) and the ones in Jungle Palace are full of wonderful details and a lot of "local" atmosphere.
