Historic Family Travelby
Andrew_W_KWhen I was accepted by VT as a columnist I was really excited. The opportunity to write about something you enjoy doesn’t come along too often so it was a chance not to be missed. The categories I’d been allocated were to cover Historic Travel and Family Travel - two very different categories with plenty of scope to write about. The more I thought about those categories as being separate though the more I came to the conclusion that when linked they can enhance the travel experience and help in the education process of your children.
I know a lot of people who have no interest whatsoever in history or historic travel, which is a shame as history is a fascinating subject and an important element of who we are today and how we became the people we are. What I have found though, is that the reasons that they don’t find historic travel interesting is because that when they were children the only vacations they ever took were beach holidays and that trend has continued with their own children believing that the only enjoyable holiday is one that involves sun, sea, sand and relaxation.
