Tyout rock gravures

by sachara

It's not easy to find these gravures on your own. So you have to find some one to show you the way on the map or bring you there. Our driver knew the place, but had also to ask around. In this area of Algeria is -so far I know- this the only gravure.

Taghit rock gravures

by sachara

Don't miss these rockgravuresThey are south of the village of Taghit.Ask in the village which road to take.If you're on this road, you can't miss. After a few KMs you see some rocks straight forward. If you park your car and have a good look, you find the rocks with the gravures quite easily. When we were there, more Algerians were around to visit the place too.

Oasis village Taghit

by sachara

Taghit is a very beautifull oasis at the west side of the Big Western Erg between Bechar and Beni Abbes. There is a lot of shade under the palmtrees. And it is possible to climb the high sanddunes. The best early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Tassili N' Ajjer

by sachara

From Djanet you can visit the Tassili N'Ajjer. A fabulous landscape with surrealistic rockformations. The base of the sandstone walls is eroded by the rivers in neolithic times. So there developed natural shelters for the prehistoric people. These are also the places where you can find the rock paintings. The Tassili N'Ajjer is a real museum in open air.

Timimoun, town in red

by sachara

Timimoun is a very scenic town of red mud-arcihtecture south of the Grand Erg Occidental.Things to do:stroll around in town, visit the small oasis villages in the neighbourhood and walk to the palmeraie. For more tips visit my Timimoun page.

Tin Merzouga

by Svillegas

It is the most beautiful dunes zone I have ever seen. The colour of the sand is like pumpkin, between orange and pink. If you go to the top of a big dune you will be able to see an spectacular landscape, it's like it forms part of "The Lord of the rings" or "Star Treck", it's fantastic, almost unreal. You can't get an idea of that with my picture, I'm sorry, but my camera didn't catched so many beauty.
