Pierangelo's Things to Do Tip

by Pierangelo

Sand dunes (Erg) can migrate, but not all dunes migrate. Each time the wind blows against the windward side of a dune some of the surface sand is carried over the top. Then as it falls down on the leeward side also known as the slipface. As this process continues, the whole dune is moved in the leeward direction. The rate of migration maybe as much as 30 meters a year.
