The south seems to be safe - no major incidents reported, but around Algier (which means a range of several hundred kilometres, after all, Algeria is a big country!) terrorist attacks still are possible. Tourists aren´t under a special threat, but if you have bad luck and get into the fireline... There are tight security measures at airports and other places - much more than in Europe
