Like many Algerian cities, Mostaganem has kept its French city center with Haussmanian buildings, but the French did not built another France in Algeria, they tried to create an Algerian style mixing French, Spanish and Arabic influences. And Mostaganem is a good example of that with a beautiful city center, this is not Marrakech Medina nor Marseille city center, this is Algeria, a wonderful architectural melting-pot with mosques, a church, arcades, arabesques in French style buildings, a 20s style city hall...

Mostaganem is a great place for sunbathing and going to the beach with a dozen of long, sandy and almost virgin beaches! Those next to the city center, such as Sablettes, Salamandre or Oureah are quite crowded, chiefly on weekends, but going to the west enables you to discover marvellous beaches with gorgeous sights.
