Most of the oil industry folks working in this area rent houses along the Stinger - aka the peninsula which faces the Atlantic. It's very nice, it seems safe, folks walk around no problems. There are a few bars around to relax in.. . One of our guys there mentioned that the best part of the week was the Sunday lunchtime beach voleyball, up near the Zulu Bar.

This old railway station built by the colonials is in the town of Catumbela. This is also the home of the Cuca factory... yum yum!
There is also a small yard with a couple of old steam engines to have a look around.

This old boat is now at the centre of a roundabout on the Ilha... Must be of some significance to Angola History as it has a plaque signed by the president on it but once again my lack of portugese has got in the way!

I came to lobito in 1999 to work. I fel in love with this tinny and beautiful city. nice clean beaches. good climate. attached picture of ristinga tourstic area. nice resturants with good seafood.
