Many of the villages around Huambo had guys running around the streets dressed in all sorts of costumes yielding whips and machetes... Very alarming on first sight but we could soon tell that it was all a bit of fun as there was a party going on in the villages. Think it was becuase of New Year but unsure... didn't hang around to ask any questions just incase it wasn't 'just for fun'

The mountains surrounding Huambo are quite spectacular and there are many great views. This picture was taken about an hour north of Huambo. Unfortunatly you have to enjoy the views from the road as the area is scattered with 1000s of landmines. Don't know the name of this mountain but if anyone does please let me know.

The Benguela railway runs through Huambo and was an important link between the ports of Lobito and Bengela and the rest of angola. These trains had badges on them saying they were built in Glasgow, Scotland.
