Outdoors, the bush: Do it yourself!!

by 7311275152084

Under African stars, warm fire roaring away. There's nothing better than cooking for yourself and your group out in the bush. Forget Restaurants in Botswana, its far better to self cater. Meat, meat and more meat!

Picnic under the sun

by SirRichard

When you travel by truck by the lonely roads of this flat country, a tree by the road side may be a perfect place for a stop and a nice lunch under the tree, on the shade. Although we went in winter (august) the sun was really strong, so all shades were welcome...

The bar at the Island Safari Lodge in Maun. The atmosphere is great all kind of groups come to the bar preparing for their 'delta-experience'. Other groups have just returned are full of stories. Just a burger with fries.

We ate at the Chobe Game Lodge. Our stay included all meals and they even packed us a big, wonderful breakfast for one of our safaris. They always had plenty of drinks on the game drives for us too. The food was wonderful. Pictured here are the warthogs that grazed outside our rooms and sometimes were on the menu! That's my son in the background

In reality I travel with a tent, so I wasn't able to frequent the restaurants. Sometimes I went to get breakfast in some luxury resort, where you can enjoy a great choice of food, cheaper ( this in the 94 ) and is accesible to all.

I had a wonderful meal at Crocodile Camp with two Dutch men that I met while there. You can arrange to have your meals included with your room rate there. When I was out on safari, our camp staff cooked everything over a wood fire. A couple of guests along with one of our safari guides had birthdays that week. The cook made a chocolate cake right on the campfire, and it was great. Their homemade bread was fabulous too.
