In Botswana si arriva per aereo dalle maggiori localita' europee ed americane, solitamente facendo transito in Sud Africa o in Zimbabwe. Si atterra all'aereoporto di Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) e da li, dopo un soggiorno alle cascate Victoria, si passa il confine con il Botswana con jeep o camionette noleggiate.La jeep o il camion attrezzato per il safari e' il mezzo ideale per viaggiare in Botswana. E'possibile cosi' effettuare i safari e i fuori pista necessari per avvistare gli animali selvaggi. Vengono utilizzate sia dal turista fai da te che da quello che si affida ai tour operator. Sui fiumi come il Chobe vengono utilizzati dei battelli attrezzati, dove comodamente si puo' ammirare il paesaggio e gli animali lungo le rive del fiume. Nell'Okawango invece oltre alle lance a motore utilizzate per il trasferimento nei camping siti nel delta, si usano delle tipiche imbarcazioni locali. I...

I live in the United States, so I had to take several planes to get there. It took me two full days!Once in Botswana, I took a small plane out into the Okavango Delta. I got to sit right up front next to the pilot, what fun!The rest of the time was out in the bush on a horse safari.

The two best ways to travel...

The two best ways to travel around Botswana for those without a car is by bus and to hitch. Some areas, such as the Francistown - Gaborone corridor are well served by buses and travelling here is relatively easy. In other parts of the country (Kasane-Nata, Maun-Ghanzi) buses are infrequent, so the best method is to hitch, as the locals do. Ask around for the best place to wait. Expect to pay for these lifts.

Well obviously it would have to be by plane, but we had to stop at Johannesburg first before Botswana.We had a good randge rover to explore in and we got see more places this way. other ways could be by train.

You can travel by rail to Botswana (once a week- overnight) from Johannesburg - Mafikeng - Gaborone (note that it is a connecting train)From Gaborone is daily trips to Francistown.
